The Washington Post has an interesting article on Peter Bergson, a Lithuanian Jew who started a lobbying group in Washington D.C. during the war to try to save Jewish lives from the Nazis. His success was not what he had hoped (but 200,000 lives is quite remarkable still!), but his story is important and is now being included in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
